Kings Cross Station was forced to close this morning because of an emergency, leaving many commuters with an arduous journey to work.
A Travel for London spokesperson said the Metropolitan side of the station had experienced severe overcrowding.
One traveller who was in the station at the time described the situation as “pandemonium” on Twitter.
The station reopened 20 minutes later.
Some commuters vented their anger at the station managers after they declared the emergency because of “overcrowding”.
One such user said: “#KingsCross implemented the emergency evacuation because the underground platform was becoming overcrowded. Really!”
Another directly referenced the panic: “If a station is overcrowded, say it’s overcrowded. Don’t send out alarms saying there’s an emergency.”
There has been no apology from Transport for London so far.
