Police warn public after bus sex attacks on teenage girls in south east London

Police in South London are searching for a sex attacker after a series of teenage girls were assaulted on buses.

The girls, said they were assaulted on buses around the Lewisham and Southwalk area.

Local Police have said that there could be more attacks unless they catch up with the man first.

When did they begin?

The first attack happened on January 27, with a 17 year old girl being assaulted on the 176 bus.

At the time of the offence, the individual sat across the girl before exposing himself and groping her, Police have said.

Another attack, this time on the 363 bus involved a 13 year old girl who he also groped.

More patrols & description of attacker

South London Police have said that they’re stepping up patrols, particularly on buses in the Lewisham and Southwalk area.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s with short black hair and stubble. He wore blue baggy jeans and a black bomber jacket with a white fur trim on the hood.

Detective Constable Alex Price said: “We are keen to trace the suspect carrying out these despicable attacks on young girls and women in public.

“Five victims have been targeted by this man and we believe there could be many more victims who are yet to come forward.”
