A man died on Friday after Firefighters attempted to save him from a burning house on Palace Road, Tulse Hill.
The Fire Service were called to the property after residents raised the alarm at 7pm.
The firemen risked their lives to try and reach the man, yet he was already dead by the time they got to him. The ground floor flat had already been engulfed by smoke at this point.
A post-mortem is due to be carried out and the victim has yet to be identified by Police.
Fire crews from West Norwood and Brixton were called to the blaze.
