UK supports groups have opened what is the first male clinic to offer support for abuse victims.
Clinic26 will offer sexual health services and emotional support for all men. They’re based at the Ambrose Centre at the Royal London Hospital.
On average, 72,000 men are raped each year and 2 million men are sexually abused.
Many of the victims feel unable to come forward, which could mean the real figures being higher.
Andy Williams, consultant physician at The Royal London Hospital, said: “We need to break the taboo that allows men to suffer in silence and this clinic is the beginning of what we hope will be a valued support resource for men in east London.”
The clinic will run on the afternoon of the last Monday of each month and will be run with with Survivors UK.
