A former bank manager and boxer has been found dead in a South London Park, after being told to leave the country by the Home Office.
Bhekitshe Moyo, who is from Zimbabwe originally, had lived in Britain for 15 years before being ordered to leave.
The former bank manager, who is described by friends as an intelligent and kind person, was reported missing last Monday.
His family raised the alarm after being concerned over a social media post which read: “I have to sleep now. I love you all. Now be good to one another.”
Police began their search in the Wallington area of Sutton, before making the grim discovery of his body near Mitcham Common.
Bhekitshe, had competed in over 50 boxing matches at a professional level. He was also studying for a law degree and volunteering at a boxing club to teach youngsters the sport.
His close friend described how he tried to apply for “leave to remain” in the UK. Unfortunately, his application appeared to spark a chain of events leading in his imminent deportation.
A Go Fund Me page has been setup to allow Bhekishe to be flown home for a family burial.
