A total of 5 cars and a lorry were involved in a major crash on the A12 near Kelvedon this morning.
The Fire Service had to cut the lorry free from the wreckage, which happened just before the junction for Witham. The lorry driver was then taken to hospital.
The road had to be closed for two hours after the accident, leading to major tailbacks for commuters.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We received a call today at 6.34am to reports of an RTC on the A12 to which we sent an ambulance officer and ambulance crew to. At the scene a male lorry driver was treated for neck pains and taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care.”
No drivers have been arrested and all parties involved are helping Police with their investigations.
One driver, who had been stuck on the same piece of road for an hour posted to Twitter: “Been in same place for an hour now” referring to his not moving in the traffic.
According to the Highways Agency, the road is now back to normal traffic flow for the time of day.
